Ragas (musical scales) and talas (rhythms) are the mainstay of classical Indian music. When rendered as free improvisation and with embellishments of swaras (notes), ragas represents colors and emotions. Structured improvisation and melodies are set to talas. In this project, we present in detail, various aspects of two popular ragas, Hindola of Carnatic tradition and Malkauns of Hindustani tradition. These two ragas are counterpart of each other in the two musical traditions.
